SunSetter Awning Accessories for South Chicago and Northern Indiana

INSTANT SHADE & PROTECTION
When Shade Is Just the Starting Point
A SunSetter awning already gives your patio, deck, or backyard a shaded spot worth spending time in. But the right accessories can take that setup further, adding protection, convenience, and a few finishing touches based on how you actually use the area.
Trim-A-Seal installs SunSetter awning accessories for homeowners throughout Northern Indiana, South Chicago, Eastern Illinois, and the towns in between. Some of these upgrades get added when your awning first goes in, and others can be paired with an awning we’ve already installed for you. Either way, what we're after stays the same: more days enjoying your patio, less worrying about the weather, and an awning that works the way your household does.
Small Add-Ons With a Big Payoff
We've spent decades helping homeowners get more out of the parts of their home they use most, and SunSetter accessories carry that same spirit forward. If wind, glare, sun-faded fabric, or an awning that goes quiet once the sun sets has kept you from getting full use out of your setup, a few smart additions can change that picture entirely.
Sunscreen Weather-Breaker
Sunscreen Weather-Breakers are side panels that close off the open ends of your awning, cutting down on wind and glare that the overhead shade alone can't block. Your awning covers you from above, but the sides of a patio or deck can stay exposed to breezes, bright sun, and the occasional passing shower.
This update tends to show up most in homes without mature trees, fencing, or other nearby structures that would naturally block the wind. Open lots in newer subdivisions can leave a patio feeling unsheltered even with a quality awning overhead.
SunSetter Awning Wind Sensor
A wind sensor gives your awning an extra layer of built-in protection. Once it picks up wind movement past a certain point, it automatically retracts the awning, no matter where you happen to be at the time.
This comes in handy when storms roll in fast or when you're not home to bring the awning in yourself. By retracting before conditions get rough, the sensor takes pressure off the fabric, the frame, and the mounting points.

SunSetter Aluminum Hood
An aluminum hood covers your awning fabric once it's rolled back in, shielding it from sun, rain, leaves, and whatever else tends to collect against the side of a house. Without one, that fabric sits exposed between uses, which can wear it down over time.
A hood makes the most sense if your awning gets a lot of direct sun or sits near trees that drop debris. If your awning didn't come with a hood originally, we'd be happy to take a look and see if one can be retrofitted.
SunSetter Patio Light
Patio lights mount right onto your awning frame, casting a soft glow across the area below once the sun goes down. Instead of relying on a porch light or a string of temporary bulbs, you get steady, ambient lighting engineered right into your setup.
This one's a favorite among homeowners who like to eat dinner outside, host friends in the evening, or simply unwind once the heat of the day has passed. It turns an awning from a daytime-only feature into something you can rely on well past sunset.

The Difference You Feel Under the Awning
A few accessories can go a long way toward getting you outside more often. The real upside isn't just having more bells and whistles, but having a covered area that holds up against whatever your backyard throws at it.
Here's what these features can do for you:
Let you use your patio or deck in a wider range of weather
Cut down on wind and glare along the open sides
Add a layer of privacy underneath your awning
Keep retracted fabric protected from sun, rain, and debris
Support automatic retraction when conditions turn windy
Make evening hours outside more enjoyable
Give your installation a more polished, finished look
Cut back on the need for temporary lighting or makeshift shade
You don't have to decide on every accessory the day your awning goes in. Plenty of homeowners start with the awning itself, live with it for a season, and then figure out what would make it even better. Our SunSetter awnings provide dependable shade for patios, decks, and backyard seating areas, and every accessory we offer builds on that foundation.
From Patio Problems to Practical Upgrades
Adding an accessory or two doesn't have to be complicated, even if you're starting from scratch. Here's what the process looks like once you reach out to us:
Consultation
This is where we listen first. We'll ask about your patio or deck, what's bothering you about the current setup, and what you're hoping to change. If you already have a SunSetter awning, we'll review it together to see what fits.
Selection
With your priorities in mind, we'll walk you through the accessories that could work for your home. You choose which ones to move forward with, based on what works for your budget and your outdoor routine.
Installation
Installation is handled by our in-house technicians, following manufacturer standards for proper fit and attachment. We’ll also double-check compatibility throughout so nothing gets overlooked before we wrap up.
Walkthrough
We finish every project with a walkthrough to show you how to use your new Weather-Breakers, wind sensor, or patio lights. You'll also know exactly who to contact if any questions come up later.
None of these steps stands alone. Each one sets up the next, so by the time we're finished, you're not left guessing how anything works or who to call if it doesn't.

Why Choose Trim-A-Seal?
Since 1950, we've built our reputation on more than just getting the job done. Long-term support has always been part of the deal, not something tacked on after the fact. We started with windows, siding, and doors, and SunSetter awnings joined that lineup over the years.
Our team leans on manufacturer-backed products and a process focused on staying involved, not just showing up for the install and moving on. That's a big part of why homeowners across Northern Indiana and nearby towns keep choosing us for their exterior work.
What tends to stick with people most is the experience along the way: answers that make sense, installers who pay attention to detail, and a crew willing to explain how everything works. That's the kind of service that turns a one-time project into a lasting relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, in most cases. We'll need to review the awning model and mounting setup first to confirm which accessories are compatible, since not every accessory works with every configuration.
It senses wind movement and automatically retracts once conditions cross a threshold, helping protect your fabric and frame even when you're not around.
It depends on your awning setup and your home's existing wiring. We'll go over all of that during your consultation before any work gets scheduled.
We'd be glad to help you find the right accessories and install them on any compatible awning. Just give us a chance to look at your model first and tell us what you're trying to add.
